Did you know that the Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department has been around for quite some time now? In fact, it all started in the 1930s. On Nov. 18, 1934, the 40 members of the town’s community got together on the porch of All Faiths Parish Hall and decided that there had to be a fire department to deal with possible fire hazards in the area. From then on, the people who have volunteered for the department have been working hard to protect the area’s citizens from fire-related hazards.
